A former house painter, cleaner and hotel worker turned saw miller has been named as Australian Apprentice of the Year by Parliamentary Secretary Senator Jacinta Collins. James Mondinos, 29 works as a saw miller for Boral Timber at South Nowra and is studying Certificate III in Saw Milling and Processing. Presenting the award in Melbourne for the Skilled Group employment company, Senator Collins praised Mr Mondinos for his hard work and said he reflected the changing face of Australian apprentices.
